Homemade fake bogeys - Green slime that kids will love playing with!

4-6 year olds | half hour

This experiment can start discussions about what our body needs mucus for or what the science behind the reaction is, or it can just be quick, easy fun.

What You'll Need

  • Liquid glue
  • Liquid starch
  • Food colouring (yellow and blue, or just green)
  • two bowls
  • two spoons (for mixing)

Instructions

  1. Stir yellow food colouring into the liquid glue and blue food colouring into the liquid starch and stir. (You can choose these colours to make green when you mix or you can just use green in both. The amount you use of each substance depends on how much mucus you want at the end.)
  2. Once the food colouring is firmly mixed with the liquid starch and the liquid glue, pour the substances into the same bowl and make sure you stir rapidly and thoroughly, as they start reacting to each other instantly.
  3. Keep stirring for a couple of minutes.
  4. Play with, throw and gross out other family members with your home-made bogeys.

Make sure you keep away from young children. Do not eat or ingest.
