Life-sized Paper Dolls

4-6 year olds | one hour

Ever wanted to have a paper doll that’s as big as you? Use the shape of a friend or sibling to trace out a body and decorate. This easy colouring and cutting activity makes a fun playmate.

What You'll Need

  • large sheet of butcher paper
  • crayons
  • markers
  • feather
  • string
  • scraps of fabric
  • scissors
  • pencil

1. Have your model lay flat on the butcher paper with legs and arms spread out to make it easier to trace.
2. With a pencil, trace around the person, forming an outline.
3. Have your model stand up. Now, take the paper and cut out the outline. Your paper should look like a giant version of a paper doll.
4. Add character to the doll. Include string for hair, colours and fabrics for clothes and other materials for facial features. Get creative!
