No Sew Fleece Blanket

7-10 year olds | one hour

Cozy up with one of your own creations on a cold or rainy day, this no-sew craft builds kids' confidence whilst working with fabric. A great jumpstart to more complicated sewing and fabric projects.

What You'll Need

  • 2 pieces of fleece (with the fringe, your blanket will be 20 cm smaller than the original piece)
  • ruler
  • pen
  • scissors

1. Put the first piece of fleece face-down on a flat surface (non-carpeted floors work best for big blankets). Smooth out with your hand.
2. Lay the second piece of fleece face up on top of it. Smooth out. Make sure they line up.
3. Prepare the corners. To do this, take a ruler and measure 10 cm from each point in each corner. Mark with a pen.
4. Cut out each corner. Cut up and into the blanket from the mark you made. The blanket should have 4 notched corners.
5. Start cutting the fringe. Make cuts about 5 cm apart (starting from 5 cm from the notched corners) and the same length as the corners (10 cm). Do this all the way around the fleece.
6. To tie the blanket, take a piece of back fringe and front fringe and tie a simple overhand knot.
7. Snuggle!
