Nutty Energy Bars - Family recipies for kids

7-10 year olds | one hour

These nutty bars are perfect for road trips or day trips. Respond to ‘I’m hungry, Mummy!’ by giving your kids these filling and tasty energy bars.

What You'll Need

  • 1 1/2 c. puffed cereal
  • 1 1/2 c. rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1/2 c. nuts or seeds
  • 1/2 c. dried fruits
  • 1/3 c. peanut butter
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 1/4 c. syrup
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla


  1. Preheat the oven to 180 ºC.
  2. Grease a baking pan with butter. Line the greased pan with foil and grease foil.
  3. Mix together puffed cereal, rolled oats, seeds and fruit.
  4. Add peanut butter, honey, syrup and vanilla.
  5. Pour into pan and press firmly.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes or until edges of the bar sheet begins to brown.
  7. Let cool and cut into bars.
