Papier-Mâché Balloon Bunny

Make a papier -mâché bunny that's as cute as the real thing!

What You'll Need

  • Balloon
  • Newspapers
  • Construction paper
  • Funnel
  • Water
  • Glue
  • Sand
  • Cardboard
  • Acryllic paint
  • Wriggly eyes
  • Pom pom
  • Cotton


  1. Use a balloon to make a papier-mâché.
  2. When the papier-mâché has dried, pop the balloon and widen the hole to 1/2 to 1 inch in diameter.
  3. Remove the balloon latex.
  4. Insert a funnel through the hole and pour 1/2 cup of sand into the papier-mâché.
  5. Add sand until the papier-mâché is steady.
  6. Draw and cut out a pair of ears, front legs and hind legs from a cardboard.
  7. Using masking tape, place the ears and legs on the papier-mâché.
  8. Papier-mâché over the top hole and masking tape. Allow them to dry.
  9. Paint over the entire rabbit with acrylic paint. Allow the paint to dry.
  10. Draw lines on the hands and legs.
  11. Glue features such as wriggly eyes, pom pom nose and coptton snout.
  12. Create whiskers by cutting out six thin black strips of construction paper. Glue them onto the cotton snout.
  13. Cut construction paper to create inner ears for the rabbit.
  14. Admire your cute papier-mâché rabbit!
