Papier-Mâché Octopus
7-10 year olds | two hours
Have fun with "creepy, crawly critters." This simple papier-mâché octopus is perfect for your decoration or your imagination!
What You'll Need
- A round balloon
- Newspaper
- Flour-water glue
- Pan and stirrer
- Tempera paint
- Paint brush
- Paint paper streamers
- Glue
- Black marker
- Googly eyes (optional)
Instructions
- Tear newspaper strips about 1-inch wide.
- Blow and tie a round balloon.
- Dip strips of newspaper into flour-water glue.
- Wrap the newspaper strips around the entire top balloon. Make two or three layers. After each layer, let it dry overnight.
- Pop the balloon and throw it away.
- Paint the papier-mâché ball, and let it dry.
- Glue on googly eyes or draw them on.
- Cut eight legs from paper streamer and glue them to the base of the ball.
- Your papier-mâché octopus is now ready to display!
