Shark Tooth Necklace

7-10 year olds | two hours

Show the shark-loving young ones how to make their very own shark tooth choker, without having to use an actual tooth from their favourite animal.

What You'll Need

  • salt
  • flour
  • water
  • string
  • pencil
  • lemon juice

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 50 ºC.
2. Mix together one part salt and two parts flour.
3. Add water until the mixture is a dough-like consistency. It should not be sticky. Add a tablespoon of lemon juice.
4. On a baking sheet, form tooth-shapes with the clay. Stick a pencil through the top of the tooth to make a place to thread a string later.
5. If you have extra dough left over, trying making other things as well, like bowls, clay people or other shapes.
6. Put your creations in the oven at 50 ºC for 30 minutes. Turn up heat to 100 ºC and come back to it in a few hours.
7. Once cooled, decorate the shark teeth with paint or keep plain white.
8. String along a choker thread and wear. salt
